Driftwood Provincial Park – July 2022 – Part 1

I thought I’d throw this next photo in, it’s on the way to this Provincial Park. We pass Canadian Forces Base Petawawa (Army base) on the way. I took this photo out of the truck window as we were driving by. (Below)

I really liked Driftwood Provincial Park. One of the great things is that the majority of the campsites are right on the water which happens to be the Ottawa River, which is directly across from the mouth of the Dumoine River. The Dumoine River is a popular wilderness canoe route. I loved that we were on the water, we had a little area to get to the water and we left our canoe there. Below is our little pathway to the water.

A view of our campsite from our canoe (below). I forgot to mention that none of these sites have electricity! We don’t care but some people might want it. There is the Brumm campground which has a few Electrical sites (12) and Pull Through Electical sites (8) but they are not close to the water.

There are canoe rentals, a couple of trails, no store though, just what they may sell at the Park main gate which is wood, ice, some clothing, camping supplies etc. There is quite a bit to do in the surrounding area which I will put in another post.

We also did a day trip to Algonquin Park to see the Brent Crater, that was about 1 hour and 20 minute drive. We were also close to Deep River, maybe 20 minute drive and we went to the School House Museum and the Clock Museum.

  4. You got some great sunsets Susan and I thought that rock looked like a turtle too. Your canoe is unique with the markings on it and I liked that you could get out and “sit a spell” on a chair. Very nice!

    1. Thanks Linda ! My husband took two of our photos and had a company do them as labels (sort of) and we put them on our canoe years and years ago. They have really lasted. We did that because Souris River canoes are very popular and a lot of places rent them out and we didn’t want someone taking our canoe by accident. We went to a Falls area in Algonquin Park one year and there must have been 30-40 canoes on shore! And some looked like ours.

      1. Interesting – well the water must be clean and not polluted for the labels to stay on there so well. That was a good idea – that would be just what you would need or for a park ranger chasing you down for swiping one of their canoes!
