Spain – Granada

We drove past the Sierra Nevada Mountains to get to Granada. We did a tour of the city and stopped at an overlook to get a view of Alhambra. It got it’s name because of it’s red walls and in Arabic, Alhambra means Red Castle.

We took a city walking tour and had dinner and then to our hotel, which is an interesting story.

Alhambra looked to be a very cool place and we were supposed to go there for a tour but apparently there was an EU 2023 summit or some such thing going on at the castle and our tickets were cancelled. And not only that, as we drove to the hotel we were to stay at, which was a hop, skip and a jump from the Castle, we were stopped and we had to leave the bus and take our luggage and walk the rest of the way to the hotel. There were apparently 5000 police in the city and area. Upon arriving at the hotel, because of the Summit, we weren’t allowed to leave the hotel, not even walk the grounds. We sat on the beautiful, big verandah and drank and watched the police horses go by and all the limos.

Next stop…. Toledo, Spain.
