When we got to Chiang Mai, we were taken to a cute restaurant by the water for our breakfast. It was very nice and we were all very hungry!

After that, we went to the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple for a visit. It is apparently the most famous temple in Chiang Mai and there are 300 steps to the top. Yes I did indeed climb them all and not only that, there were quite a few steps to get from the street level to even GET to the 300 steps so I got my workout that day! I was pretty happy that I made it to the top even though I was very slow. I won’t get into details but I have back issues which affects my leg. I am perfectly fine to walk on level ground and I’m okay coming down stairs but going up stairs is a kind of torture for me. Clint thought maybe I should have sat at the bottom and waited but I did not want to do that. Plus there is always Aleve or Tylenol !
Back when they built temple, there were no steps so elephants were made to climb up this steep hill with all the materials to build the buildings. It’s a very interesting and quite beautiful place.
When we left, there was a funicular to travel back down so we thought we would take that instead of walking back down. Besides, I do love funiculars
The first photo on this post is a street dog who was at the temple and there is another photo of another dog, down below. This 2nd dog was sleeping on the stairs and he had a shirt on and I swear that someone painted eyebrows on him! He looked a little off.

Wowza, it’s a lot of steps ! There are a couple of people from our group ahead of me
They are doing a lot of maintenance on the buildings
They really like the gold colour
We were asked to kneel down and one of the monks prayed with us or for us, I’m not sure
Simply beautiful
A Jack fruit tree, I have never seen one before
Going down anyone ?
Does he have eyebrows painted on him?
Later that day, a few of us had signed up for a Thai cooking class. What a great class and we got to eat all the food we cooked. Well we didn’t eat all of it, there was a lot. The teacher’s husband took us to a market to buy some items for us to cook and then back to their house where she taught us how to cook a variety of different dishes. Such good food and she even gave each of us a cookbook with all her recipes in it as we left.

Fish and seafood and ?not sure? at the market
Sooo many fresh vegetables
Clint doing some shopping
Red peppers
I have never in my life seen pink eggs
Me ! and two of the people in our group
This was delicious
We each had our own little station to work at
Later that evening we had a choice of going to a Ladyboy show or a Thai boxing match or stay at the hotel. 2 people ended up going to the Ladyboy show and Clint, myself and 2 of the other men went to the boxing match.

We passed some Ladyboys on the street, they were advertising for their show
Boxing match
It was a very long, very full day and we had a great time. We stayed in Chiang Mai one more day and did another full day of touristy stuff.
See you next time !
