Gosling Lake Campground – Trums Travels

We made it to Happy Valley Goose Bay, population approximately 7,500.

We were able to get a campsite at Gosling Lake Campground which has been open for about 2 years or so. I can’t remember what we paid but it was reasonable. I mentioned a few times about the weather being cold, well not now. For about 3 days it was in the 30’s Celsius, very hot and when we set up at our campsite we were told the Hydro (electricity) was out and it didn’t come back on until later that night. No AC, no fans so we went for a drive and then ended up at their beach on Gosling Lake. We stayed for 2 nights here, drove around the area and did some back roads and spent 2 afternoons at the beach. The beach was okay but you had to walk out about 50 metres or more before the water came past your knees.

So that’s that, not much else to say! Except………….there is a military base here, which is significantly smaller than it used to be, 5 Wing CFB Goose Bay. We took a drive around the Base to see what it looked like but it looked all the other Bases I have seen and lived on. I grew up on military bases so the housing is pretty well all the same all over Canada.
