We left Masai Mara and were on our way to Amboseli National Park, which is about a 4 1/2 hour drive to Nairobi, we stopped there for one night at the same hotel we started from. It’s a further 4 hour drive to Amboseli and we had other plans for that day so a great idea to break up the trip.
It was a few hours drive to get there but we saw some interesting things along the way. We drove on a road that was built by Italian POWs in WWII and we also passed a Catholic Church that they had built.

Church built by Italian POWs
You can see the sign in the bottom right corner that it was built by POWs in 1942
We also stopped at a viewpoint for the Great Rift Valley which was pretty spectacular.

Coming up to the Lookout
Pretty spectacular view
Beautiful
There were little stores and washrooms here

We also drove part of this road where they have hijackers. The road is very steep and trucks have to drive quite slow so these hijackers like to jump on trucks as they drive past and steal the food. Sometimes they will sit on the trucks and throw cabbages and other fruits/vegetables off the truck to their families waiting alongside the road. I thought it was quite funny. Here they are…..Oh, and No I did not get a photo of them on any trucks but I wish I had!

A few photos along the way.

Heading into Nairobi
Then we kept driving until we hit the Giraffe Sanctuary and Karen Blixen’s house, that’s the next post ! See you then….
