Eastern Europe in the Spring! – First stop Bucharest, Romania – 2024 (a few more photos)

Above photo is the Parliament buildings, I did a panoramic with my IPhone and it turned out okay. We had went one day to tour the buildings and we couldn’t get in as we had to have our passports so we hiked back the next day. It was a few kilometres from our hotel but we got to see lots of other things both these walks. When Ceaucescu was in power, he demolished over 10,000 homes, (set on 7 square kilometres of land) and displaced 40,000 people, in order to build Parliament. This building is the second largest office building in the world, beaten only by the Pentagon. It was known as the House of the People, oh the irony ! It is certainly a beautiful building but was it worth the price?

Below are some photos of Parliament and also the Antim Monastery. We also found, about a 20-25 min walk from our hotel, a great area with lots of restaurants, bars and little shops so we were there a few times to relax and people watch. And cat watch, so many cats all over the place.

The next day we headed to Brasov, I loved Brasov. It’s a beautiful city and with a magnificent town square. On the way, we stop at Count Dracula’s castle !

See you soon
