We headed to Hoi An from Hue (both in Vietnam). We drove up into the mountains that run alongside the South China Sea. On the way there, we stopped at this cute spot for a break. Above picture is from this cute spot!

It was really nice by the water
We stayed at really nice hotel, Vinh Hung City Hotel. and it was only about a 20 minute walk down to the water and where all the action was. And by action, I mean stores, restaurants, bars and people. We were in this city for 4 days and 3 nights so we did a lot. We learned how to make noodles at Oodles of Noodles, and got to eat them!

We also did a very long bike ride which was really fun and I wish we had done more biking. We stopped at a fellow’s house who makes Tofu and showed us how it’s made. Clint got to help him! I did not eat it, when offered, as I do not like, nor will I ever like Tofu. And yes, I have tried it many times, it is not for me.

We only biked about 12 kms but we made a few stops. We also stopped at a community garden and we were able to sit under an awning and they gave us a very nice, cold drink. I have no idea what was in it or what it was called but it was delicious. We also saw a Water Buffalo tied up in a little pond. We also biked through a coconut forest and as we were biking that way, we saw a woman driving a motorcycle and she had a poodle sitting on the back of the bike just as proud as could be. I did not have time to get a photo. We stopped at the coconut forest at a spot by the water and they had lunch for us. Coconut pancakes with rice paper and watermelon. We then went on the river in these little boats. I know in Ireland they are called Corkles but not sure what they call them here. At the end of the bike ride, we hauled our bikes on a boat and got a boat ride back to the city.

We had a really good day and then we spent some time downtown in the evening. There was a river, Thu Bon River, and on the other side of the river, which you could walk to, there were all kinds of stores, restaurants, bars. There was never a lack of places to go to or things to do.

Bridge, really pretty at night

We did quite a lot more in Hoi An, as I mentioned, one of our favourite cities we traveled to on this trip. More in the next Post !
