South East Asia – Back to Bangkok, Thailand ! – 2024 – Part 29

Last Post on our South East Asia trip !

So our tour has ended and we find ourselves back in Bangkok, where we started from and at the same hotel. We stayed in Bangkok another few days on our own as we weren’t ready to go home yet. One of our fellow Canadians, Michael, was also staying a few days longer so the first day that we were on our own, he came with Clint and I while we went exploring. We took the subway to another part of the city, it’s a big city, 11.2 million people and that is one quarter of the population of Canada.

We headed to Jim Thompson’s house which was beautiful, the gardens and colours of the house and inside the house were just stunning. I could live in this house. Who is Jim Thompson you may ask? I didn’t know either but now I do. He moved into that house in 1959 and started a silk industry. In 1984 he went on a trip and was never heard from again. No one knows what happened to him but his business is still going strong. Above photo is in one of his gardens.

We also went to a Market and did a lot of walking and had some great food. Here a couple of random photos to finish off this very long trip!

We were gone 5 weeks and it was very difficult to not put a lot of photos and information into the many, many………..many blog posts that I did. Hopefully one or two of you enjoyed taking this trip with us! Now the long flight home, about 18 hours I think.

We were only home about 4-5 weeks and then we headed to Eastern Europe in middle of May. We went to Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Turkey and finished off in the city of Amsterdam. Stay tuned and thanks for reading.

Stay safe.
