We met our tour guide, Aor and she’s very nice; she was born and raised in Bangkok so she knows her city. We took a boat tour up and down the river which was interesting, different area of the city than the other boat tour we took.

We were a couple of hours doing the boat cruise and then we were dropped off at Wat Pho temple and we spent quite a bit of time there.

After Wat Pho, we had free time until 530. A lot of the other people went to the Grand Palace and other spots but we had already been to those places so we just walked around the city and guess what? Ended up at our little dive bar. We had an enjoyable time talking to people from all over the world and having a bite to eat and a couple of beer. Then we took a a tuktuk back to our hotel which cost about 300 Baht and was faster in the busy traffic than a taxi cab.

This is the day our tour officially starts and tonight we are catching an overnight train so we had to pack up our stuff and head to the train station. We are going to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

This was just the coolest adventure, the train had bunks running down either side. Clint took the top bunk, mostly because I had a fear I would fall out, and I took the bottom bunk. A couple who became friends, and we still have contact with, were across from us; David also took the top bunk so Cindy and I could chat. It was about 10 hours on the train and they woke us up about 7 a.m. the next morning. It was a great experience and we had another overnight train ride later on in the tour. I slept surprisingly well although I did get up in the night to unpack the blankets they gave us as it was a bit chilly.

We were whisked away to our hotel to leave our luggage and then off we went for breakfast. Another busy day ahead of us, more about that in the next post.
