Wow That’s a mouthful but in simple terms, it’s a Fort. But a very interesting fort and a great way to spend a few hours on a sunny day. I took this from their website to explain what it’s all about.
“Located in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Obadjiwan–Fort-Témiscamingue national historic site witnessed the presence of Aboriginal people approximately 6,000 years ago and was the scene of commercial rivalries. This former fur trading post is at the heart of regional history and is well worth the detour.“
This fort is set right on the water and has many realistic displays, trails to walk and a Visitor Centre. The displays are called scenographie and there are 12 on the circuit through the area. It shows you where the trappers came to sell their furs and the traders and merchants who then shipped them to Europe.

Inside the Visitor Centre
Different canoe sizes

Walkway
Their displays were pretty awesome
Trails through the Enchanted Forest, named because of the strange shapes that strong winds have given to the trees
Set on Lac Temiskaming

Shop Keeper and Customer
Voyageurs getting ready, pretty realistic
I do love Forts and history and enjoyed this place quite a lot. It’s well worth the visit if you are in the area.
See you soon…
