We had a nice Long Weekend, weather was very odd though. Friday and Saturday were a bit rainy yet muggy; Sunday was a beautiful sunny and warm day and Monday was also sunny, yet very chilly (15 Celsius)
We spent some time with friends; went to the Old Church Theatre for a concert; went to see the Lancaster Bomber and then we did a couple of drives around our area, stopping here and there. We also stopped at Signal Brewery for a beer and Meyers Creek Brewing Company for beer (one of my favourite breweries) and Pad Thai from the Thairific Food Truck (located at the brewery.) But I have no photos………
I had bought tickets a while ago to go see the Lancaster Bomber at Base 31. Base 31 was called Camp Picton, back in the day, and was a 2 WWII Air Force Base and training centre for pilots. They “borrowed” the Lancaster from the Canadian Air Force Museum until 2029 at which time it will return to it’s home. Camp Picton (750 acres) is now Base 31 because a couple of years ago, PEC Community Properties purchased the whole kit and caboodle and is transforming the buildings and the property. It’s a slow process but they have done a great job so far. They have entertainment venues and are planning on building affordable housing and so much more. I am happy they are restoring a piece of history and I wish them luck in their endeavors.
Here are a few photos that I took of our weekend. The first photo (above) is of the Lancaster.

We also went to Terracello Wineries this weekend to try their pizza. The pizza was one of the best we have had but the wine……well let’s just say we won’t be ordering it again, it was not to our taste at all. But if you can get there, the pizza is so worth it !

We also stopped at Sandbanks Winery, which is one of my favourite wineries in The County. We also stopped at Rosehall Run Winery, we hadn’t been here for a number of years so thought we would give it a try, their wine wasn’t quite to our taste either but Hey! There’s always beer 🙂

One of our other drives took us past Chisholm Mill. I have posted about this place before, it’s beautiful, in my opinion, but this day the water levels were the lowest I have every seen them. Still a beautiful spot though. They have been in business since 1857 (6 generations) pretty good for this day and age to have a company that is still going strong. I walked up on the bridge/road to the right and took photos of either side of the river and you can see how low the water is.

I wonder what he is used for?
Beautiful old buildings
Last but not least, some random shots that I took somewhere on our drive !

Cute church
I love old shacks/barns like this. This guy is almost covered completely up
I also like dead trees, strange I know.
It was a great 4 days (I count Friday because we are retired!) and I hope you all had a great last weekend of the summer and long weekend and let’s hope ALL the warm weather hasn’t left us !
See you soon……….
