Okay so they are not chickens, they are Ruffed Grouse but they run like chickens! So that is the nickname that Clint and I gave them years and years ago. Above photo is of a male grouse and he was with two females. We were driving down a dirt road in the park and the two females were on the road, one was actually sitting on the road as though she was on a nest. The male was off in the woods and he wouldn’t come out and I wasn’t going in, they are little but mean! I remember one day we were biking down the old railway line and one jumped out of the woods behind me and chased after me! I didn’t even see him and Clint was ahead of me and didn’t see him. Another time I was standing on the side of the road getting a photo and a female grouse with all her young came out of the woods and saw me. She apparently didn’t like me on the road as she chased me to our truck. Pretty sure I could have taken her but then the young ones would be orphaned lol.

I’m just going to throw a couple of photos of Trilliums in here. Trilliums are Ontario’s Provincial official flower (where I live) and there are five different varieties, White Trillium, Red Trillium, Painted Trillium, Drooping Trillium, and Nodding Trillium. I have only seen two, the White and Red. Did you know White Trilliums are a favourite food of deer?
