Algonquin Park – Fall 2025 – Part 1

Well we had a great 5 weeks in Algonquin Park, from mid September and returning home a few days after Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving!)

We could not believe the weather in Algonquin Park this year. In 5 weeks, we had one day of rain and we also had warmer than average temperatures. I think one night it was -2 Celsius but other than that, really nice weather. On a down note, hardly any moose, which is the main reason I go to Algonquin in the Fall. The first week we saw two cows at one spot and then a cow and bull at another spot but they wouldn’t come out of the forest and we weren’t going in, so I think I have a couple of shots of that cow but no bull moose. No bears this year and no wolves either. We did, however, enjoy all of our hiking, paddling, biking, touring around and visiting with friends but lack of wildlife was a bit disappointing.

We like the bike trails in Algonquin Park, they are old railroad lines and for the most part, pretty good trails. There are some sketchy spots so you really have to pay attention! At least I do….

We did a few canoe paddles, one of my favourite things to do. Depending on the weather and the lake, we will take chairs and a beverage and try to find a nice spot to park the canoe and chairs and enjoy the moment. Canisbay Lake had a couple of very photogenic loons this year so when we paddled there, I took way too many photos of them. It was hard to pick which of my photos to show here.

We love this Park and the area surrounding it. More posts on Algonquin Park to come !
