Africa – Lake Nakuru National Park – Part 2

This is a sanctuary for rhinos and we saw lots of ’em ! They are one of the coolest animals and we even saw a Rhino family, ma, pa and the little one. And just like moose, they are called, bulls, cows and calves. There is also a small herd of black Rhinos living here and they were saved from extinction when Kenyan conservationists took them out of zoos and let them go free in the Park. Kudos to them. Keeping animals safe from extinction is one of the very few reasons that I believe in zoos. Yes I’m one of those people………..

Now for some rhino photos and also photos of the Park itself………

Hope you enjoyed the rhinos, we did see a Black rhino but he was so far away so no photos. They keep their distance from the other rhinos.

See you next post !

  1. I saw on todays news that there are only two White Rhinos left, both females. The last male died recently but they preserved his sperm. The females are too old to conceive, so they are confident a surrogate (Southern Rhino) can be used.
They may be able to save the White Rhino!

  2. He is handsome! How amazing to see rhinos in the wild. Don’t imagine that is too common. Thank you for sharing. All wonderful – really love the “family” shot. So sweet. Happy adventuring to you!
