Primitive Designs

Well, my Africa posts are done now, we went to Kenya and Tanzania in July of last year and it took me quite a while to process all my photos and sort them out. The end of the Africa posts kind of makes me sad as I loved reliving all the memories and moments we had. Since Africa, we have traveled to a few other countries and I can’t tell you how far behind I am on my photo editing and sorting. Well, actually I can tell you, I’m VERY far behind but one day I will be caught up !

But in the meantime…….

Clint and I belong to a photography club, we used to belong to 4 but we’re down to one now. I love this club, it’s very social and lots of fun and even though we only have one meeting a month (and then go for lunch) we also have Fun Days.

This past Wednesday was a Fun Day and about 13 of us met in Port Hope, about 45-60 minute drive from where we live, to visit a place called Primitive Design. This place is amazing and in all the years I have lived in this area, I have not been to this spot and it was delightful. We all wandered around the property, taking photos and visiting and then, of course, we all met for lunch at a local restaurant.

They have an 8000 square foot gallery and numerous outdoor tents. Everything is handmade and items come from places such as Thailand, Nepal, Morocco, India and more. I took some photos of a little of this and a little of that as I wandered around. After a bit, my friend Bill and I sat on the back of his truck for a visit and he also took this photo (below)…..(obviously)….of me! with my camera.

SIDENOTE: If you want to see some fantastic photos, visit my friend Bill Bickle’s website, he is amazing. billbickle.com

I am just going to post a bunch of photos so you can see what this place was like and hope you enjoy! If you are local and haven’t been here, go check it out !

Well on to photo editing…….. See you soon !

  1. Wow, I would love to visit this place! Some of the items look like Steam Punk things, the plate is amazing with it’s many colours. Is the monkey flipping Canada off? He better not be! This was well worth the one hour drive, guys!

  2. This was different and fun Susan. I didn’t think it was that big of a place until there were more and more photos and items. A bit like Steampunk and very eclectic and I think my favorite was the group of horses. This sounds like a nice group of friends/photographers to hang out with.
