We left Fatima early in the morning and headed to Batalha to the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We probably spent 90 minutes to 2 hours here wandering around and admiring the architecture.

Founded in 1386
I do like stained glass, we used to do stain glass as a hobby/side business
beautiful arches
gardens
More gardens
Such great architecture

Beautiful spot but that’s all we got to see of Batalha, except for the drive through the town.
This was going to be a busy day, next stop was the coastal town of Nazare.

The church is incredibly beautiful! The fourth photo from the top reminds me od scenes from the harry Potter series, I don’t know where they recorded them.

I don’t know the location either but I did love those movies

It’s still fun to watch the movies, they play often on one of my cable channels.

The stained glass here is beautiful. I like the contrast of the angry-looking sky against this very old monastery. I can see why it took several hours to tour it.

Happy thanksgiving to you too Linda! Supposed to snow here tomorrow. We are in Algonquin Park, going home Wednesday. We’ve been here 34 days!

Snow – oh my! We had 70s last week and tomorrow it’s only going to be 51 – a shock to the system. That’s a long time – hope you got some moose pics!

I have so many moose photos and videos! We just got home today so I’ll have to download them. It barely snowed for a couple of minutes, like a rainy snow but the next few days it’s warming right up again!

That’s great you got so many moose photos and videos – I will look forward to seeing them. The weather is crazy. We almost got to freezing last night – most counties had a hard freeze and Monday it will be 76F (24C).

The church and gardens are stunning. I’m sure you really appreciate the stained glass knowing of the work that goes into making it.

I love stained glass! My husband and I used to do stained glass items, we had a small business. We quit that a few years ago.
