Some More Christmasy Stuff !

I do not like shopping but I do love a good market. I guess I don’t like big box stores or malls. Every year the Red Barn or The Eddie has a huge Christmas market and we always go. They decorate beautifully and there are outdoor and indoor booths and buildings, lots to see and do. So many different booths selling candles, clothing, chocolate, pet items, jewelry, quilts, you name it, they have it. We don’t buy a lot but we do like to purchase local garlic and locally made mustards and cocktail mixes, things of that nature when we go. We are, and always have been, big proponents of Buy Local.

Last Christmas post, I mentioned we had gone to the Festival of Trees at Farmtown. This weekend we went to the one at Isaiah Tubbs Resort, which we also go to every year. They do it a bit different here, you bid on trees/items and when the weekend is over, the highest bidder gets the item. At Farmtown, you bought tickets and put into a box by each tree/item and they drew names at the end of the weekend.

Agrarian Market in Picton is another of our favourites. It’s a great little store with fresh made bread and pastries and they stock over 50 local PEC made brands like Cressy mustard (our favourite) and more items.

Northumberland Fine Foods is another great spot to travel to get unique foods/gifts. It’s located in Brighton and they have a cute speakeasy at the back of the store where you can relax with a cocktail or charcuterie board.

Last but not least, some of the shows we saw at the Old Church Theatre, my favourite venue for entertainment. They had a great selection of groups and some Christmas music included. They also had a reading of Dickens Christmas Carol, which they do every year, sometimes some of the same people and some different but always a great afternoon.

So that’s that for our Christmas festivities except we do have a Yuk Yuks Comedy show and dinner to go to but I don’t think the comedy will be very Christmasy!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday and I wish you all the very best in the New Year.
