I should mention, since we arrived in Newfoundland, it’s been 10-20 Celsius and damp and rainy but that’s Newfoundland!
Rocky Harbour, population 940, is a cute town located at the entrance to Bonne Bay and inside the boundaries of Gros Morne National Park.

Rocky Harbour
A bit nippy !!!
We drove to Lobster Cove Head to see the lighthouse and the museum. I haven’t mentioned yet about some of the odd names in Newfoundland. Here are some of towns names…….Black Tickle, Dildo, Blow Me Down, Come by Chance, Conception Bay, Cupids Noggin Cove, Halfway Tucks, Nuggetville, Spread Eagle, Twart Island, Burnt Arm, Joe Batt’s Arm, Witless Bay, Quidi Vidi, Cow Head…. I could go on but I’ll stop there. Do you have odd town names where you live?
But back to Lobster Cove Head ……..

Entrance
You park and then walk down to the museum and lighthouse.
We stopped and hiked to South East Brook Falls, it was a lovely spot except for two big birch trees blocking the view !

We also hiked around Berry Hill Pond, only a couple of kms.
There was another walk we did in the Park, the Maddie Mitchell trail. Mattie Mitchell was a renowned Mi’kmaq hunter, guide, and prospector, recognized as a person of national historic significance. He contributed greatly to the exploration and mapping of the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. In 1905, his discovery of valuable ore deposits in Buchans resulted furthering the development of the islands mining industry in the 20th century.
It was a very pretty, short walk and I loved all the wildflowers that grew there.

Info on Maddie Mitchell

I loved these flowers

If only the weather were warmer…….but it pretty much stays around 15 Celsius.
Next post, some of Gros Morne National Park …..

Such a beautiful town and area, Susan! There seems to be plenty of libido to go around up there… 🤭
