This is a short post, I wrote about going to Bartlett Lodge for dinner one evening. Well when we returned to the dock to get into our truck to head back to our campsite, we ran into some friends. They were out hunting for moose to photograph, as we all do ! Anyways, we had a short visit and then we all got into our vehicles and headed back to Mew Lake Campground. Just down the road we spotted a moose on the road. Now remember this is a Provincial Highway in the Park and it’s BUSY. We pulled over as did our friends and another vehicle. He was heading away from us so we snapped a couple of shots and all of a sudden a vehicle flew past us all and drove down the centre of the road like he was chasing the moose. The moose didn’t know what to do so he also starting running down the centre the road with the car chasing him. Finally, thankfully, the moose headed off the highway into the bush.

Minding his own business
He was starting to go off the road and then the car chased him, he was scared
What the heck?
I don’t know if the people thought they were doing the moose a favour by trying to chase him off the road but all they did was exacerbate the situation, in my opinion. It took the moose longer to get off the road. So was he trying to be helpful or was he being a huge jerk? We’ll never know…………
Having said that, I’m going with…… he was being a jerk………
Have a great week everyone!

I wouldn’t mess with that huge beast, it can kill you and damage your car!

I’m inclined to agree with you Susan. We have people over here that can’t wait for Canada Geese to waddle across the street (not with goslings … people seem to have gentler souls when it is geese and goslings), so they just keep going toward them – the terrified geese are startled and fly every which way (unfortunately not into the offending driver’s windshield). I like your pic of the “moose trot”.

We have a Canada goose family that are always walking back and forth across one of our main roads and so far, people stop for them. Thankfully…

Yes, thankfully … until they are in a hurry and do something foolish. We had a goose family on the expressway about a month ago just toddling around. It was on a Sunday afternoon and unbelievably people were gracious and stopped to let the family cross. That was a little reckless of that goose family. Who “plays chicken” on the expressway anyway – yikes?!

Poor moose! How awful and frightening for the animal. Thank goodness the moose veered off the highway.
