One day on a drive in the Park, we came across a beaver on the side of the road eating his lunch. We kept our distance but continued to watch him/her and at one point he crossed the road and we watched him chew down this tiny branch, well tiny for us but not for him.

Here I come
I can do it !
Finally and no traffic
He is definitely in there, can you spot him?
Beavers are so busy all the time and they are fun to watch. They are considered the largest rodent in North America but I never think of them as a rodent. We even have a beaver picture on our 5 cent coins!

Yum! delicious leaves
Gotta reach a little higher
What shall I do now?
Oh right, eat some more
Look at his teeth! Kind of creepy lol
We really enjoyed our time watching him
Gotta get this branch to my dam
I love their little hands and how they can grip things so easily
I am getting tired of eating so I will just lay here with my snack in my mouth….for later
Above photo is another area and you can see two beaver dams in the distance. These are 2 (out of 3) dams that we crossed over with our canoe one year. You know…….to get to the other side ! You can read about that here. https://trumstravels.com/2022/04/24/beaver-dams-galore/
Below is one of my favourite spots in the Park, it’s March Hare Lake. From the road there is a small body of water and then the dam and then the lake. Every time we go there the water seems to be at different levels. This year the water was low but other times, the water will be right up to the top of the dam. And yes, in case you are wondering, we have put our canoe in the lake on the other side of this dam too so we could go for a paddle.

Enough for today! Stay safe……….

This beaver was a great poser..he is busy. Anita

This beaver was quite agile with that small tree – lunch to go. 🙂 I checked to see if I had seen that post and I had (thought I remembered it). Your captions are so clever to match each of the beautiful beaver shots Susan.

They are just fascinating to me, little engineers off the forest!

Yes, I was amazed when I saw it for myself at Lake Erie Metropark – small trees I could understand (the size like your little guy was dragging across the road), but they had felled huge trees. I was amazed to see those huge trees with the beaver chews on them.
