Canada Day !

We had a great weekend, Friday night we headed to the Old Church Theatre for music and woodfired pizza. I have blogged about the Old Church before, it’s a wonderful venue for entertainment and we go there pretty regularly. We had a great evening; Lloyd Spiegel was playing and he was terrific. He’s from Australia and not only is he a great singer/guitar player, he’s also very funny. He plays bluesy stuff and you should check him out if you have time. I bought one of his CD’s, And yes I’m one of those people who still buys/play CDs and records.

Along with some friends, beer and wood fired pizza, what more could you want?

Canada Day was Saturday, first of July ! (1867 – The Dominion of Canada is Created on July 1, when our country came to be). Clint and I headed down to the Belleville waterfront, on our bikes, for the Canada Day festivities. They had a Wild West Show, bands playing at the Amphitheatre all day, food booths, all kinds of stuff going on. Two bands I like were playing that day, we sat and listened to one of them, Big Black Smoke. They play all ’60’s music, right up my alley! Another group I like, FarSide, played later but we had already left to go to The Pier for a dacquiri. So we rode our bikes there and sat for a bit. It’s right on the water next to all the boats.

So the first photo is me and a giant Stuffie. I love stuffies, especially if they are life sized! This guy has to do with the Belleville Senators hockey team. I am not at my best, it was stinking hot and we were biking but there I am with my fuzzy buddy.

All in all, a pretty good weekend! And as I write this, it’s Monday 3 July, it’s still stinking hot! I think we are feeling like 35 Celsius today. Which is fahrenheit is about 95 Fahrenheit. We are supposed to be feeling like 38-39 Celsius the rest of the week…………..I’m already wilted lol.

Anyways, that’s it for me……………..Happy 4th of July to all my American friends on Tuesday!

  1. Sounds like a fun day – you don’t look wilted but happy standing next to your fuzzy buddy. I like the hurricane evacuation plan! I know that come January or February we’d kill for this hot weather, but I’m already sick of it … just a malcontent I guess. 🙂

      1. That’s just brutal isn’t it? This morning when I went out the dew points were very high and the “real feel” was in the 90s … that was at 7:45 a.m.!! Crazy. I don’t know the metric unit values, having only used the imperial units my entire life. We moved to the States in 1966 before metric units in Canada went into effect. In fact I think the U.S. is the only place that does not use metrics.
