Last summer we did our trip down through Ohio to Kentucky and Tennessee for 5 -6 weeks and we really liked Nashville, which surprised us. I say that because neither of us are fans of Country music but we went to the Grand Ole Opry and it was quite enjoyable. Trace Adkins was the only person I had heard of and he was the headliner. He was there along with 5 or 6 other acts/singers and they each went on stage to do 3 songs so if you didn’t like one act, just wait a few minutes!

Me outside having a bourbon before we went in for the show
We had great seats, front row in the balcony
They also had big TVs on either side of the stage.
We had tickets to do a tour of the Ryman, which was the original Opry house but the day we went there they told us it was closed for private event and we were leaving the next day. We were able to get our money back but still aren’t sure why they sold us tickets three days before this event happened, they must have known.

There is so much to do in Nashville, it would be hard to be bored. We did as much as we could while we were there. We stayed at a KOA campground about a 20-25 minute drive from Nashville but only 5 minutes from the Grand Ole Opry. The KOA had a shuttle that ran continuously from 9 am to I believe midnight. Entrance to KOA Nashville below. It was not as expensive as I thought, we paid $87 a night, which was not bad.

Next post, we’ll see some of the other places that we visited when we were in Nashville and I believe we were there about 6 days.
See you soon………

Sounds like a fun time in Nashville – I’ll look forward to the rest of your trip. I think my parents used to watch the Grand Ole Opry on TV. I seem to recall that. They were Country Western music fans, but for the original CW singers, like Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr., Hank Snow, not the “newer” CW singers.

Yes I prefer the “old” singers too. The newer ones all sound the same!

Yes they do – I don’t know if I could name newer singers on one hand. I really don’t know anything about Taylor Swift as I don’t listen to her music, but I often wonder what equivalent woman singer was in our generation – not Linda Ronstadt (one of my personal favorites) … hard to say.
