South East Asia – Bangkok, Thailand – 2024 – Part 2

In the lobby of our hotel, they had different day trips you could sign up for so we signed up for a bus trip to the City of Ayutthaya. to see Wat MahaThat and another temple called Wat Phra Si Sanphet. In case you are wondering, the word Wat appears a lot and it’s because it’s the word for temple (or monastery.)

The Reclining Buddha was huge, I couldn’t get over the size of him !

After the temple visits, we boarded a boat and took a canal cruise, it was pretty interesting to see how people live on/near the water.

It was a long day, we left at 7 and got back to our hotel around 4-430. It was a great day though and tomorrow we have signed up for another bus tour to take us to a floating market and the train market, both were quite the experiences!

See you soon

  1. These are some amazing pictures of Bangkok – I can’t say I’ve ever seen pictures except perhaps in “National Geographic” which my parents subscribed to for years. At first glance, the very first picture looked like it was atop the twisted-up tree, then I took a closer look and saw it was two pictures. Funny how you have these canal market shots, then you see the high-rise buildings in the background in another shot … it seemed like two different places. That Buddha was very large … a wide-angle lens would have been helpful but you got it all in! I remembered seeing a big yellow duck at some event last year – maybe in New York Harbor. I just Googled and it came from Hong Kong, but I think it was larger than this one, although this one is pretty big!

  2. Wow, so incredibly unique and beautiful! I see the dog in the fifth photo, thanks to your note. Fantastic eye and one of those details I would see after taking a photo. Thank you for sharing your experience. 😊🙏🏻
