It took us about 3 hours to travel to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi. Upon arrival we headed down to the docks and got on our boat. We had a nice room in the bottom of the boat, most of the rooms were there. Then there was the main floor which is where we ate and read or whatever. The main part also had a walk out to the front of the boat where you could sit outside and see the sights. For some reason, it was freezing cold on this day and the next, it was down to 13-14 Celsius. We had hot temperatures this whole trip but the 2 days/1 night on Ha Long Bay was cold and we had no heat on the boat except in our rooms which was only put on just before bedtime. I did not bring cold weather clothes as it has been 30 to 40 Celsius every other day lol Anyone who knows me knows I hate the cold (that includes winter) so that would have been the only negative for me. The Chef on the boat was fantastic, the food was so good and he spent some time with us showing us how he did decorative food. He was amazing.

We went on a smaller boat from our boat, and headed through, or rather underneath, to a dock. Off the boat and we walked up a hill and into a cave. We hiked in the cave for about 90 minutes. They like their caves over here !

It was a fun time, minus the cold, but I think it would have been so much prettier if the sun had been out. There were so many boats on the water and as most of them stayed on the water overnight, as we did, you could almost walk from one boat to the other. Couple of random shots below.
So 2 days and 1 night here and then we headed back to Hanoi.
Until next time….

Such a beautiful bay, wow!! Some sunshine would have been nice too, you look great, Susan!

That sounds like a nice boat trip Susan – sorry you had to endure the cold though. It would figure after all those stifling hot days. It looked bigger inside, than when you showed them near the dock. I agree about the chef being an artist – I like the fruit flowers he created.
