It took us about 4 hours to drive to MacLeod Provincial Park but we saw tons of sandhill cranes on the way. They were all along the highways and roadways.
We also passed this gigantic Snowman which was kind of neat, out in the middle of nowhere!
MacLeod Provincial Park is a really nice, well maintained park and the site we had was a drive through site and it was very big but not too private.

We walked down to the water and watched a pelican fly by and then we saw a Bald Eagle by the water’s edge.

They have a nice lagoon and it would have been nice to paddle around it but there was no access except via someone’s site. We still have a campfire ban due to the North Western Ontario and Manitoba fires still blazing away. We had to have our heater on as it was pretty chilly, only about 14 Celsius. Ontario will quite often start to cool off in August when you are up north.
We took a drive down Kinghorn Road and then went on a narrow crappy road to some Falls that Clint had found on his GPS. He uses Canada Topo or Backroads naps on his GPS so that we can find all of these hidden gems. It was only about 400 metres down the road and the falls were pretty cute. There was a guy on an ATV with his little chihuahua dog named Susie there, he is doing Crown Land camping. We also saw two other people and that was it. There is something to be said for traveling further North!

We also drove down Sturgeon Falls road and stopped to look at a tiny waterfall, but it was a better view from the highway.
On to Wild Goose Lake Beach road and just after 3 kms we went down a little road and came to a terrific spot with a beautiful beach. There were only 2 girls sitting enjoying the day and no one else. Hard to believe, it’s a great spot.

The town of Geraldton is close to the Park. We stopped at the Visitor Centre in Geraldton, interesting spot. The Centre wasn’t very big but they had some displays and we learned about the area.

We are so far up north that cell service is not good, none at the Park at all, which can be a good thing! No one can find us lol.
Off again and on to Nagagamisis Provincial Park, one of my favourite parks this trip.
