Dieng Plateau, Java, Indonesia – 2026 – Part 1

Off to Gedong Songo Hindu Temples on the slopes of Mount Ungaran. These are from the 8th and 9th centuries. We had to walk uphill to the first one and keep walking uphill to the second and so on. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful spot.

We stopped at this spot for famous Java Spring Rolls. This is all the lady made was spring rolls. Let’s just say……….they were okay.

The Ambarawa Train Museum was next, they have 21 preserved historic locomotives and also does train tours hauled by 3 operational steam engines and a hydraulic diesel engine.

In Wonosobo we went to the Tambi Tea Plantation, it was a lovely spot with a store, restaurant and rooms to rent. We also walked through the tea leaves fields. Before we left, we sat outside and had some tea, I am not a tea drinker but when in Rome………..

I was really impressed with our hotel at this stop, it was quite unique. It would be nicer if I could remember the name of it ! Here are a couple of photos of the hotel and a couple of street shots.

Well this was a bit of a long post but mostly my photos so scroll fast !

One more post for this region and then we head to Yogyakarta!
