Hakone and Mt Fuji, Japan – 2026

The trip to get from Kyoto to Hakone was long. We had to take 2 subway rides to get to the bullet train and that was about a 2 hour ride. Then a bus ride to take us to the Samurai Road for a walk. Which was nice but it was raining and foggy. It was a nice walk though.

The trail took us to another bus station and after two more buses and about an hour we got to our hotel. We were going to Mt Fuji the next morning by taking a Pirate Ship and then a tram but because of the rain and fog, they canceled those two things. I really wanted to go on the Pirate Ship. How cool is this ship?

Our hotel was nice and we had to change into their pajamas for dinner. And of course slippers, no shoes. The food was quite good and they always have a lot of little dishes filled with items or sauces. It’s quite an event eating in Japan. After dinner, Shingo had rented a karaoke room for us and we had a great time. Well, the singing wasn’t great but the rest was pretty great!

Off to Mt Fuji via two cable cars to get to the top of the mountain. We all tried the famous black egg which is a regular egg but boiled in water rich in sulfur and iron from volcanic hot springs. They had a museum at the top of the mountain that we went through and it was quite informative.

It would have been nice to Mt Fuji but the weather didn’t help us. It was still a nice day but dam that pirate ship would’ve been an awesome adventure !

When we left Hakone, we headed to Tokyo …………….
