We did a day trip to Miyajima Island and it was a fantastic island, we really enjoyed our day there. To get there, we had to walk to the train station, take a train and then walk to the ferry terminal for a 10 minute ride. This island is famous for its iconic floating Torii gate and is recognized as one of the three most iconic spots in Japan. Later in the day, the tide went out and you could walk out to the Torii Gate.

There was lots to do on the island, stores, restaurants, wild deer, trails and cable cars to take you to the top of the mountain. We took a cable car to the top and then walked up some stairs to a viewpoint. We also walked the pathway to the Daisho-in Temple which was lined with statues wearing the little red hats! They had a huge bell up there that Clint was anxious to ring! I mentioned wild deer and they were all over the place trying to score food. We also tried their famous Lemon Beer. It was a great day with great weather and we really enjoyed it

We headed back to the mainland after a lovely day. One evening when we were here, we were taken to a restaurant that serves a “famous” cabbage pancakes. So below is the basics but you can add items to each individual order. Seafood, green onions and more…..they were delicious

What a view you had from ground level of the island and from up in the cable car. It looked very scenic there. I laughed at Clint and the deer in the standoff. Did the deer score the banana from Clint? At first, while they were mixing up the ingredients for the pancakes, I was thinking I hope you guys had something else to eat after all that sightseeing – you’d be starving. But the finished product looked hearty and delicious. That was a nice photo of you and Clint Susan.
