Algonquin Park, Autumn 2023, Part 5

Last post on Algonquin for this year! Hopefully by the time this is scheduled to post, I will have my Africa photos finished. That’s my goal anyways.

So when we go to Algonquin Park, we quite often go out of the park and drive/walk around different areas. So this post focuses on photos from the areas around Whitney and Dwight, going east and west of the park.

Thanks for reading! Keep safe.

  1. I have always used the eastern gate. With the advent of Google Earth I popped Algonquin up and realized the vast majority of the park is north of the only road through Algonquin. I saw Brent to the north and checked it out. I saw an abandoned railway leading out of Brent. I followed it and was surprised to find it was the railway I followed (short distance) to get to Eustache lake(deepest lake in Algonquin). I remember doing that hike in 88 and the line was active. That route would be a excellent rail trail for biking! I bet snowmobilers use it.

      1. I have a nephew with a custom made kevlar canoe. BIG Canadian flag painted across it.
As soon as I saw it (given as a wedding gift) I said to myself “That thing is going to be hung up in the house”. Too pretty for the bush.
That’s why ugly works best in the bush and that’s what mine is.
