So we’re still in the Masai Mara which kind of reminds me a little of the province of Saskatchewan to be honest. Somewhat flat and lots of brown grass !
We spotted a bunch of jeeps in a circle and saw that there was a male and female lion in the center. I wasn’t keen on this to be honest, although everyone said they are used to it but that doesn’t make it right.

Captive Lions, so to speak…We were behind the first row of jeeps but I had my big lens which is how I got all these photos and closeups
He walked over and lay by this jeep

Having a snooze together

You can see how well camoflauged they can be
Is he talking to these birds?
They really blend into the landscape, it is a wonder we ever saw any!
We saw so many animals here; ostrich, topis, jackals, giraffes and more. But more exciting was spotting 2 cheetahs on a mound of dirt and another on the move.

Cheetahs
I guess he is tired
Sometimes we were the only jeeps around and then other times………it was like this

Our Tour director, Wallace, in one of our other jeeps
That’s it for the lions and cheetahs and jeeps………..See you soon

Those are such amazing pictures Susan! This is a trip of a lifetime!

Fabulous photos! Seeing their wild beauty up close through your lens is an emotional experience. I understand and share your feelings. 😔 Thank you for adding the note about Saskatchewan – my grandfather’s birthplace. I’d love to visit there someday.

Yes, it is sad to see the circle of Jeeps with the lion pair in the middle. I guess they aren’t scared, but maybe intimidated a bit? Was it warm and sunny that was making not only the lions sleepy but the cheetah yawning too? Maybe they are bored with the tourists and wish they’d move on. 🙂

Haha they probably do wish we moved on! I know they are habituated to people so probably don’t care but still…

I just wrote another blogger about you seeing the lions with the circle of safari Jeeps around – she lives in Africa and just had a post about a natural venue with lions roaming free.

That would be great🥳

I’m sure the animals become conditioned to the vehicle traffic each day. Giving a great opportunity to take pictures!

Yes they are habituated but it’s still kind of sad. But you’re right, great photo ops
