Above photo is the Parliament buildings, I did a panoramic with my IPhone and it turned out okay. We had went one day to tour the buildings and we couldn’t get in as we had to have our passports so we hiked back the next day. It was a few kilometres from our hotel but we got to see lots of other things both these walks. When Ceaucescu was in power, he demolished over 10,000 homes, (set on 7 square kilometres of land) and displaced 40,000 people, in order to build Parliament. This building is the second largest office building in the world, beaten only by the Pentagon. It was known as the House of the People, oh the irony ! It is certainly a beautiful building but was it worth the price?
Below are some photos of Parliament and also the Antim Monastery. We also found, about a 20-25 min walk from our hotel, a great area with lots of restaurants, bars and little shops so we were there a few times to relax and people watch. And cat watch, so many cats all over the place.

See you soon

You don’t look old to me, Susan! It’s rather shameful that this one person displaced so many others – irony can be pretty ironic..

Yes, how ironic to displace all the citizens for the sake of one large building. That is a big building and quite ornate inside as well. I like the streets and the shops which look quaint. I laughed at “Oldest bar in Bucharest and oldest Canadian woman visiting Bucharest that day” – it looks like you had a bit cooler weather for this trip.
