Today is exciting, we left Bucharest to go to the city of Brasov for 3 days. On the way, we went to Count Dracula’s castle in Transylvania, actually called Bran Castle. (Photo above) On our way there, we passed the Carpathian mountains and our guide told us that there are 6000 bears and wolves living in this area. Transylvania means “Beyond the Forest” in latin.
I forgot to mention, on the way, we passed a town called Busteni and we didn’t stop but we could see Cantacuzino Castle that was used as Nevermore Academy in the TV series Wednesday.
We had a tour guide for a tour of the castle, we had to walk up this great hill as it sits on the top, and it was such a great place to visit. There was a Tea House on site called Queen Mary’s Tea House where we had our lunch. For some reason, I did not take any photos of the Tea House but it wasn’t anything special. Pretty sure it wasn’t ……

On the side of the road on the way to the castle
A view from up top of the castle
Clint and I inside the castle
The rooms and furnishings were so wonderful
I love history, that’s all I will say
Knights costume
A view of the countryside
More interesting information
The man himself….
I don’t know who is buried here but I love the look of it
Shops ! Below the castle and beside Queen Mary’s tea room
Finally we made it to our hotel in Brasov. It was really nice and a fairly short walk to the Town Square and all the shops, restaurants, etc.

Our rooftop pool at our hotel
Just outside our hotel
These little tents were set up across the street from our hotel. Clint is standing guard so I can’t go over and spend money lol
Leaving our hotel and on our way to the Town Square
Next post will be about our trip to the first Romanian school, the Black Church and a lot of other stuff!

I enjoyed reading the info boards, the castle is amazing and beautiful! The castle has a fine view of the town below too, thanks for sharing! 😊

How fun touring the castle with you Susan! I like the picture of you and Clint inside the castle and I enjoyed all the pictures and information. The bed looked really short in the one room. I liked the knight’s outfit too as well as the photo of the man himself. 🙂 The hotel room, as usual, is beautiful and the little town at the base of the hill is quaint looking.

You are welcome! I read somewhere that some countries have castles you can stay at, that would be pretty cool!
