So above is one of the cows that I photographed in Algonquin Park. She was a beauty. The moose population in Algonquin Park has significantly declined in the last few years which is very sad. For me anyways as they are my favourite animal and I could spend all day watching them.
We saw a few beavers and of course, always the right time, right place to see them. We drove by Turtle Rock, below and I spotted a beaver. They really blend in, can you spot him? He is to the left of the rock eating.

Turtle Rock on Opeongo Road and just to the left, is the beaver.

We also saw more snakes than is usual this time of year, I think the weather had an affect on that. Warning…..2 snake photos coming up….
We had a group of wild turkeys strutting around campsite fairly often. It was just before Thanksgiving so they were pretty brave! I photographed two cows who were together and at one point, it looked like one was yelling at the other! We also saw a couple of Pileated Woodpeckers and a fox and more. One of our campsites below. We had to change sites because we were there so long !

You don’t have to yell, I’m going

Another cow I saw but she wouldn’t come out of the woods

As I mentioned, we still had a great time but more moose and bear or wolf or two would have made the trip all that much better. There is always next year.
Next, and last, post will be on some trails we did in the Park.
See you soon.

Lovely animals, Susan, I wonder why the moose population is in decline. Bummer.

Some get hit by cars on the highway. But there is hunting allowed in the park so a lot of them are killed by hunters.

Wow, it seems like the provincial government would end the hunting to help the population, Susan. Sad.

Long story short, they can’t and it is sad. I love moose and it’s getting quite rare to see one now

They can’t, eh? Weird. I hope they don’t become extinct. 😭

I like the pictures Susan – the snakes were so close up, especially the first one giving you the evil eye. The fox, even though it was scruffy, was cute – those long legs! I’ve never seen a moose, so I am always impressed by seeing your photos of them. When my parents rented a cottage up north we heard the moose calling to one another all night. They were loud, but maybe they were fighting like these two in the picture. 🙂
