Middle Bay Basque Whaling Site is another spot we went to visit. The road was narrow, bumpy and we weren’t sure where it was going but it ended up near some abandoned buildings (or maybe not?) There was no one around anyways.

I like the boats all lined up so I mean someone must come here to fish?

Some of the Natural Resources in the area are seals, caribous and berries. There are some berries and plants indigenous to the area, like Bakeapples. I don’t know why they are called that as they are small berries and not apples, but it’s said they smell like apples. There is a plant called the Labrador Tea Plant and it grows about 4-5 feet tall and is used for tea and medicinal purposes. I tried the tea and did not care for it but I’m not a tea drinker at the best of times, Clint quite liked it and had two cups.
We also went to visit L’Anse Amour and the Pointe Amour Lighthouse built in 1857.

Well that was it for this area, of course I have a lot more photos and information but I think I will end our journey to Labrador here. Now for the ferry to Newfoundland with the ride being a couple of hours so not too long.
Next stop…….St Barbe’s Newfoundland!

Such a beautiful place, wild nature! Those small boats have VHF antennas on them so they must get some use. The museum is nice as are the lighthouses, so many of them. Try to imagine a ride in that sub all the way from Europe, it must have been hell!

I dont think it would have been comfortable in those subs. I could never go in a sub, I’m a little bit claustrophobic and just the idea of being in that sub and something happens, what are you gonna do? I’m a land person lol

Me too but I grew up in a boating family! We never used subs. 😂

There’s those big rocks again in the foreground with the ferry in the background. I think they make it look very scenic. I like those little houses – maybe not abandoned as they don’t look ramshackle and instead make it look more quaint. The lighthouse is big and it shows up nicely against the angry sky. I think the museum would be fun to tour!
