London, England – Part 5- April 2025

The Royal Mail was a short walk from our hotel, maybe a kilometre or two. I had never heard of it but it was really interesting. We took a little train on a tour underground and they had all kinds of pictures and information on the walls on either side. Henry VIII established the Royal Mail in 1516, it has over 500 years of history. The purpose was to handle collection, sorting and delivery of mail to over 29 million addresses.

We went to the British Museum, which is huge, and it was also jam packed with people so we didn’t stay too long. I don’t like shoulder to shoulder crowds. I wanted to see the Rosetta Stone and it was hard to get a photo or even a look but I managed !

We really enjoyed the Imperial War Museum. Founded during WWI, there are six floors with sections on WWI, WWII, the Holocaust and more, there was a lot to see. It was very impressive.

It’s not a trip to London if you don’t see the Churchill War Rooms. This was the secret underground headquarters where men and women were living and working underground during WWII. It was quite something and hard to imagine what it would have been like to live/work there and be a big part of history.

Royal Albert Hall, War Memorial to Animals and MI6 HQ (Secret Intelligence Service) not so secret now, we know where their building is……

Next, we hop on the Eurostar train and head to Brussels !
