Last summer (2023) Clint and I decided to head down to Kentucky and Tennessee for a few weeks, with our trailer. We hadn’t been to either of these States but wanted to check out a few things. Our first stop was near Grafton, Ohio to stay a couple of nights as we wanted to check out some things in Cleveland. We stayed at the American Wilderness Campground just outside of Grafton. I would recommend this campground if it wasn’t for the fact that we arrived there at 1:15 and check in wasn’t until 3 pm and we were charged extra even though there was mostly empty sites. Then after we paid she asked if we were Good Sam’s members, we said yes, and so she had to delete the transaction and start over because she owed us $5. She had a rough time figuring that out. We would have told her to forget about it if not for the charging us for being there early, so we made her work for that extra money. There was another thing that happened that annoyed us, suffice to say, we will not stay there again but it suited our purposes at the time.
So on to Cleveland ! We went to Cleveland for the day and we had a great deal of fun. First stop was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was amazing. Six floors of displays and info and we were there over 3 hours. Tickets for 2 was about $70 US but it was worth it. One of the small theatres you could sit and watch Dick Clarks American Bandstand, which I used to watch when I was a lot younger. What a lot of memories!

We were a couple of hours wandering around and seeing everything, there is a lot to see and if you love music, it’s well worth the visit.
After that we headed to the Great Lakes Science Centre which was also very interesting and informative. And then a tour of the Clifford G Mather ship.

Clint also toured a submarine, on his own, I do not like the tiny little holes to go through and all the weird stairs lol. We drove by their big baseball park and walked around downtown. After all our touring we deserved a beer so off to Great Lakes Brewery.

We walked by this business and looked in the window

Next stop……..The Shawshank Redemption Reformatory (Ohio State Reformatory)

Great photos, guys! Thanks for the tour, now I know what the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame building looks like, nice! It’s nice that the old Great Lakes ore boat has been preserved. Rush, the pride of Canada! I can’t begin to tell you of the great memories I have of partying to Rush and saw them in concert at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit in the 80s. The Joe as it was called has been demolished, sad. Great post, thanks! 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

I never knew anyone who went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so thanks for the mini tour Susan. I remember Dick Clark and American Bandstand which I also watched and I used to see him on the New Year’s Rocking Eve which he hosted before his stroke. He was great. It looks like a fun day for you. Fun to be on the top of the battleship too. We had a submarine come to Detroit to the Riverfront back in the early 90s. A couple of my co-workers and I went to take a tour on our lunch hour. However, we had a dress code at that law firm and no pants were allowed. Bad choice to go to a submarine as yes, as you said, there was a small doorway opening, a narrow stairway and we opted out, much to the dismay of the submarine crew standing at the bottom of the stairs. 🙂

Couldn’t you just picture it? 🙂 Our law firm had a merger and the acquiring firm thought our office looked a bit “tired” and they made some big changes, one of which was a spiral staircase going from the 10 to the 11th floor. All of the females took the elevator or the fire escape stairs after one of the young attorneys told everyone he had a primo place to look up all the ladies’ skirts/dresses.

Oh wow! What a blabber mouth lol. And I can picture it, I would have worn shorts underneath lol

Yes, he was real young. 🙂 Probably gathered all the others in his office. Shorts would have worked well. 🙂

How fun! I’ve never been there, but coincidentally my cousin is in Ohio for the summer and wants me to visit her. I am up for it! Thank you for the preview.
