Clint and I standing on Juno Beach. Juno Beach, one of the sites of the Canadian D-Day landings on June 6, 1944, is located along the Normandy coast in France, primarily centered around the town of Courseulles-sur-Mer. The landing zone stretched across several villages, including Bernières-sur-Mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. The beach is situated between Gold Beach (British) to the west and Sword Beach (British) to the east.

We went to 3 of the beaches I believe, Juno, Omaha and Gold. There were 5 beaches in total; Juno, Omaha, Sword, Gold and Utah. I have my photos a bit mixed up so I do know the Omaha Beach and Juno Beach photos and then I have some miscellaneous photos.

It was very moving to visit these spots and reflect on our past. It was quite emotional for all of us as it affected our group in one form or another.
Next stop ….. Paris !

Wow, i’ve never seen these beaches like this, thank you, guys. Its all so sad.

I agree, John, it is very sad. It was really hard to fathom that back. Then, these beaches were just full of men and equipment and death. It’s just hard to believe.

It’s very sad isn’t it? We were at the DMZ between South and North Korea today and it’s just heartbreaking what has happened with these two countries

Wow, you are so brave, I would never get that close to that terrible country. Yes, its very sad, those poor people trapped in that country…

That was interesting as I’ve only seen photos of Omaha Beach actual photos or footage from that day or depicted in “Saving Private Ryan” … such a loss of life and the memorials, once again are very beautiful.

Very emotional spots but I fear they shall soon be forgotten. That makes me sad

I hope they aren’t forgotten either Susan – the group of WW II vets that were in Normandy gather there every year to commemorate the anniversary and that group is getting smaller and smaller. Same with the WW II vets, most of which are in their late 90s now.
