Pigeon Forge, Tennessee – Part 1 !

Well we made it to Pigeon Forge, not what I expected for sure. The main road is chock full of restaurants, attractions, mini golf courses, bars and so much more. There will be some photos in my next post.

We drove through Smoky Mountain National Park and it was quite scenic. We also did Clingman’s Dome which was pretty cool, a very long and very steep hike up to the top and that was before we actually got to the Dome trail !

A few more random photos of our drive through this park. We had also drove to the far side of the Park as we were told there were Elk there, they were not there but still a nice drive. Another drive we did was Newfound Gap and it was also a pleasant drive.

We were told to drive the Cades Cove Loop which was where we were supposed to see a lot of wildlife but we only saw some Turkeys and a baby coyote. Of course there was a ton of cars stopped to see him so we did not get a really good look or photo. We drove through some other areas and stopped here and there, it was a beautiful park.

Next post, downtown Pigeon Forge !

    1. I love that skywalk, it was quite a feat of engineering. Thank you for the kind comment about my photos and Trum says hi back. We are up north right now and we have very little to no cell service. We are in a little town sitting in a parking lot as I’m typing this. we are home Monday and I can’t wait to read everybody’s blog posts! I will need to catch up😊

  1. A fellow blogger has posted some photos of those elk in the other side of the park. Trum looks good sitting on the Applachian Trail sign – very few of us would make it to that rigorous hiking trail. That skywalk is amazing. I can’t imagine how difficult it was to build it. You walk out on it and it’s like walking into air and the clouds surrounding you. I went to the Smokey Mountains in mid-May and the hotel desk clerk said to hold off doing the drive due to black ice on those steep twists and turns … made me even think twice about driving around the mountain after they said that!

    1. Wow in May they had black ice ! Our weather is going all to hell. It’s a pretty area and too bad we didn’t see the elk. I had to stop a couple of times up the trail to get to the Dome walk as it was very steep but they had places to sit.

      1. Yes, I couldn’t believe it either and I was grateful the hotel clerk told us about it … it was scary enough on those steep turns – yikes! That’s great they had places to sit – you’d be winded after the climb!
