We only stayed 2 nights in St Barbe but while there we toured around quite a bit. I was really wanting…….needing ……..to see caribou when we went to Labrador but no such luck so I was hoping maybe Newfoundland I would see a herd of caribou prancing across the land. It did not happen……..however….. we did spot a coyote eating a caribou’s head so close enough I guess.
We drove to Flowers Cove, Bear Cove, Anchor Point, Bird Cove which is near Dog Peninsula, Reef Harbour, Shoal Cove West, Black Duck Cove, Brig Bay and more.
While we were near Bird Cove we saw a museum called 50 Centuries Culture Society. It was a very interesting museum and the young fellow that worked there took us around and told us stories and gave us more information. He also told us there was a caribou herd hanging around in this area and when we were done at the museum, we drove around and hung around but alas, zero caribou again.

Now we are off to Rocky Harbour and Gros Morne National Park. We have been to this area before but it’s a beautiful area so another trip will be okay by me.

Canada the beautiful! It’s so amazing up there, Susan. The last house looks dangerous but it makes me wonder who lived there and where they are now. The photo that is looking downhill and into the distance is amazing, it makes me want to drive it!

Thanks John 😊 I do that too when I see old or abandoned houses, I wonder who lived there, where they went, does it still have owners. If houses could talk! It was a very scenic area

It looks somewhat desolate, yet beautiful. The old building is interesting looking. Well, that was one way to see a caribou … that coyote had quite a feast. I’m sorry you never got a chance to see the caribou herd. I like the museums you have visited on this trip, now this one too with the whale bones. I have never seen lobster traps … nice they can leave them out without worries someone would steal them.

Yes he was very hungry that coyote. It was raining and we never left the truck when I got those photos 😊. The museums were quite interesting, lots of history and stories. They leave everything out, it’s amazing. They leave skidoos out beside huge wood piles in case they are needed, traps all over the place, boats , everything. I guess there is no thievery, which is as it should be everywhere 😊

You were lucky to get such clear shots then from the truck and in the rain. Well, if only we could leave things out and not worry they would be stolen – it is good everyone is so trustworthy there and I’ll bet they leave their houses and cars unlocked as well.

Years ago I lived in Prince Edward Island and we never locked our doors of our houses or cars. It was wonderful. Now we have to lock our cars even in our own driveways

That level of trust impresses me. I would like to live in a small town where everyone knows one another and there is no crime like you once had. In our City’s Resident Forum on Facebook, even when they lock the doors, they still get broken into. I’m glad I have a garage, but our street is well lit by streetlights and I have a dust-to-dawn pole light out front, so that helps light up the area too.

Yes, we have security cameras and motion sensor lights and our one vehicle goes in the garage. Plus, we live out in the country so it’s not as bad as right in the city, not yet anyways.

I hope it stays that way for you. We have oddball things that people steal, like hanging baskets off of people’s front porches. People steal the holiday inflatables as well.
