I did not take the above photo. It is a photo of Claude Monet born in Paris in 1840 passing away in 1926. He was a French painter and a key figure in Impressionist painting which were mostly plein-air landscapes. I like his paintings and we went to visit his gardens on the way back to Paris which is about an hours drive from Paris. It was so crowded there. I can’t believe the people that were there the day we were there. Clint and I hustled through so gardens pretty fast so we could get off the property and wander the village a bit where there not so many people
The very last photo (below) of a bush in a pot was actually a person. When someone got too close, he jumped up and scared them pretty good. It was funny to watch.

One of the paths

Lovely archway

His home
Gift shop, there’s always a gift shop
Village
Another gift shop in the village and a spot for a drink
“human bush” you can almost see his face
A few random photos from the city of Paris and then next Blog post, Clint and I spend a couple of hours in the Catacombs of Paris and that was very interesting and unique.

Beautiful boulevards

A nice spot for a cafe

I love the older buildings

Another cafe at this building
Paris is a lovely city to visit but we probably won’t go back only because there are so many other cities and countries to visit. Stay tuned next post for the Catacombs !

WOW, love the pics
That’s the kind of architecture that I like.

A very beautiful city with great architecture! I have seen the work of Monet online, he was a master!

Yes I like his paintings, he’s not like Picasso! His paintings I’m not fond of.

I see, can’t say I recall any Picasso paintings just now but these people were so amazing! I once read a book about the old masters with photos/images of their work, stunning!

Monet would be happy to know he had such a following 100 years after his passing! The gardens are beautiful as is his large home … he had some inspiration whether inside looking out or doing plein-air. The village looks interesting. The human bush – well, with so many people passing by, I’m sure most don’t see the eyes, unless they saw him jumping out as they approached. What a bustling, beautiful city and all the modern buildings alongside the old buildings – such a contrast. I’ll look forward to the Catacombs as well.

The flowers were lovely,no wonder he was so inspired! The bush did jump out a couple of times to startle people!

Yes, you and I would be inspired too (even if our finished products did not look quite the same). 🙂

P.S. – I meant to add that good thing you’re not in France now – they recorded their hottest day on record today 43.8 C/110.8 F.

Yes I heard that! They even closed down tourists to the Eiffel Tower for a few hours. Our weather is just going to keep on getting crazier

Yes, the weather will keep getting crazier and our weather forecasters were reminding people that a lot of buildings/homes, etc. do not have A/C. You were lucky you traveled there in the Spring … after these last few years of hot Summers, tourists will be traveling to Europe in Spring/Fall (unless they have kids/school break and have no choice).

We don’t have air-conditioning at our house because usually in the summer we are away camping, but I think there may come a day when we might want to get it in

We never got central A/C until 1975 and my father used to sleep on the couch in the basement on the really hot nights. We had a window A/C in the TV room/den, but that’s it. Hopefully you don’t, but Summer extends way into Fall these days … sigh. I’m not looking forward to our three or four-day heat wave next week.
