This past Monday we got up at 5 a.m. as we had decided to go to Amherst Island, just a change for us. It’s about a 45 minute drive to the ferry and about a 20 minute ferry ride.
We drove around the island for a couple of hours, it was nice to get out somewhere different. We didn’t see too much, I was hoping to see a fox but we did not. We did see hawks, deer and wild turkeys. I do love the turkeys although these guys were too far away to get any photos. So not too many photos, actually I just have a deer photo lol. Well there is always the next time.
Take my picture please These guys were all over the place, we had to sit and wait in our truck until they left the road
This past Tuesday, we got up even earlier (why do I torture myself lol) we were up at 430 and off we went to Algonquin Park. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive but we had our coffee and muffins, packed a lunch, had our podcasts to listen to so we were good to go.
We did not see any Moose unfortunately but we did see a couple of ducks, wild turkeys, grouse and lots of birds. They still have anywhere from 15-30 centimeters of snow but lots of areas had none so spring is coming. We did walk a bit, down Spruce Bog Boardwalk trail and we also walked to the Cascades. So here are a few photos I took along the way.
Just an ice formation I was playing around with in Lightroom A pond that Clint and I call Monkey Lake as it has no name on the map Part of the trail to the Cascades The cascades (view from one side of the bridge) View from the other side of the bridge, we have canoed this river and portaged around the bridge Part of the cascades Chickadee Chickadee Wild Turkey Red Squirrel Bluejay Female Evening Grosbeak Pine Siskin (I think, pretty sure…) Pine Siskin Evening Grosbeak Goldeneye Duck
So not a bad week, so far, I wish to have seen more wildlife but we have a lot more days to do that.
Take care and stay safe.
