We watched a family of geese one day. We were at March Hare Lake, pictured above, and a family went to the dam to climb over and head into the lake. One adult went first but the other adult could not get the kids to climb the dam. They tried and tried and finally had to figure out another way so they walked over to the far left and went up that way. It was funny to watch, they figured it out pretty good.
Heading to the dam Well one made it! You can barely see the little ones, they could not get up this part of the dam Well, on to Plan B…. they went around to the end and then up! And they made it to the lake Another family
We also spotted some Ring Necked Ducks, male and female. I only got a couple of shots that turned out.
Ring Necked Ducks
See you again soon…..
I love your photographic storytelling. 😊 Nature is captivating. It is amazing how any little creature can survive with all the challenges!

I feel the same. I love watching the quail families that frequent our yard. 😊

Those goslings are so sweet and so determined to keep up aren’t they? Sometimes you want to reach out and give them a boost, like here. 🙂 It makes me smile when one lags behind the others, maybe stopping to grab a bite of grass or look around, then they do a kind of run/waddle to catch up. I’ve never seen those kind of ducks before and interesting having a white ring on their bill too.

Yes they are cute and it’s fun to watch them! I know they are a pain in our downtown area but out in the wilderness they seem different somehow. I think that’s the first photos I have gotten of those ducks too!

Lots of people forget it is their right just as much as ours to be there, but yes, out in the wilderness it is better for them to grow and thrive. I miss our goslings – when they return by around Labor Day, they will look just like their parents. I haven’t looked at my Sandhill Crane pictures yet – I was so excited, my first Sandhill Cranes seen and photographed, like those ducks, a real treat. 🙂

oh how wonderful for you Linda! I love Sandhill cranes, they look so prehistoric,(kind of) There are tons of them in Northern Ontario.
