Fitzroy Provincial Park is a great park to stay at, we have been here before and we will be back. It’s not out in the “bush” where we like to be but it’s about an hour drive from Ottawa and there are all kinds of cute little towns and villages within a short driving distance. We had a nice campsite, sort of private but the sites are all fairly typical of Ontario Park. It is set on the junction of the Carp River and Ottawa River so there is canoeing/kayaking available. They have a nice boat launch, day use area (with beach) and beaches in the campground. There are 2 of trails to do but the park itself is pleasant to walk around or bike around. They have a store with the cheapest ice cream ever. I don’t eat ice cream but someone I know does!
We spent two days in Ottawa biking all over the city and on one of the days, we had a wonderful lunch with some friends that we have not seen in a long time. We all forgot to take a picture. Debbie and I both sent each other messages right after we left saying “oh no! we forgot to take a picture ” lol Some photos below of our biking in the city.

Above is a photo Clint took of me while we were biking in Ottawa and we stopped in front of the Parliament Buildings. They are doing some maintenance/construction on it but we weren’t sure what exactly was being done.

We went to the Diefenbunker Museum one day, it’s located in Carp, about a 20 minute drive from the Park. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s quite fascinating. During the Cold War, a massive 4 storey underground bunker was built between 1959-1961. Top officials were to take shelter there in the event of a nuclear war and it was actually an active Canadian Forces Station until 1994. We love history and although we had been here before, we still spent a couple of hours. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

Maintain life for 30 days? after a nuclear war? hmm

I grew up in a kitchen like this but apparently all this stuff now are antiques? Does that include me?
Lots of interesting information

A few other spots we went to, photos below and some more that I took in the park. Alice’s Village Cafe, Brew Revolution, Evergreen Craft Ales and Cold Bear Brewing Co.

So that was our time in Fitzroy Provincial Park, I recommend the park and the surrounding areas, we had lots to do and will hopefully get back there one day.
See you soon…

Fitzroy looks like a very beautiful park! I love the Parliament building, it has great architecture and looks very British to me. You are NOT an antique, silly girl! I love that style of furniture, I’m 63 and remember that style. I see that you guys are riding Pedego bikes, a brilliant choice, guys! I love this brand. Have a fine upcoming week, Susan. ❤️😊

I love my Pedego bike! Fitzroy is a great park, we’ll go back one day. Well the British were our “overlords” for a long time lol. I remember when I was in school, we sang our National anthem and God Save the Queen every morning. Big British influence here😀

I want to visit England so much! It seems to me that Canada is still in some way still a part of the British jurisdiction?

This looks like another fun adventure. I like the mom deer and her fawn. That was interesting about the bunker … 30 days sequested, secluded and worry-free. They have preserved it well. The furniture was like that in our kitchen too – the dinette set was in a dark teal, same fabric, same color table. We are not antiques, even if we have to scroll and scroll and scroll when filling out an online survey or form. 🙂

Hahaha I know right? Sometimes when I have to put in my year of birth, you are correct, it is scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. Thanks for reminding me Linda lol. yeah Clint and I were laughing about the 30 days in the bunker. If there was a nuclear war 30 days wasn’t gonna cut it.😊

Nope, I can’t imagine 30 days in a bunker … I’d have to plan a long-time in advance and haul in lots of extras for the comforts of home. 🙂
