Algonquin Park Day Trip

Clint and I decided to head to Algonquin Park this past Monday. It was supposed to be a beautiful day and it was. Bright and sunny and only about -15 Celsius. We were up at 4 a.m. to head out as it is about a 2 1/2 – 3 hour drive from our house.

We went searching for the little Pine Martens. We have a few spots that we know of that they frequent but this trip we only saw one Pine Marten at one of our spots. But he/she was a cute one.

They have a ton more snow than we have where we live. The photo below is a picnic table and you can see how deep the snow is on top of it.

We took a walk down to the Cascades and the trail was pretty good.

The bridge crossing the river and the river, little bit of open water in there.

We also saw a Gray Jay and some other birds but no Moose.

The back of the Visitor Centre and the view from the back deck of the Visitor Centre.

We had a nice day and here are a couple of other random photos.

So that’s that for now, it will be a while before I am up and out of bed at 4 a.m. again haha!

Take care everyone…..

  1. Wow, all very beautiful photos, Susan! The Pine Marten is so cute! The crick with running water and ice teeth is beautiful, I bet it sounded so relaxing. The lake looks beautiful and a bit mysterious with the falling snow in the distance. Great post! 👍🏻❤️🇨🇦

  2. I love that cutie pie Pine Marten! I’ve never seen one of those before. As much as I dislike Winter, the snow, untouched by cars and pollution here in Algonquin Park kind of kicks Winter up a notch. Just gorgeous photos you have of all of Winter’s beauty Susan.
