Giraffes! On the way, our Tour Director, Wallace, asked me what my favourite animal was to see in Africa and I told him giraffes. (Although since spending time in Africa, I’ve kinda changed my mind, more about that later !) So imagine my surprise when our room was at the bottom of a hill at the resort and facing the area where the giraffes hung out! I was very excited………….at first. Our resort was the Aberdare Country Club.

Our first stop (other than Nairobi of course)
The road to the Lodge
Look who we saw! As well as gazelles and other animals alongside the road
One view of the Lodge
It was a nice resort, a little run down, but still beautiful. They had nothing planned for us so it was a down day for us all, even though we just started our tour. We had a great little cottage at the bottom of the hill, it would be to the left of the resort in above photo, lots of stairs to go down.

Our room with a deck that we sat on
Our room and right outside the window were the giraffes
Another view of the Lodge
Outside dining area
The food was pretty good and we spent the rest of the day wandering the resort and getting to know the other travelers.

The Lodge and our cottage is to the right
Dirt road we started to walk down
Squirrel !
Mom and baby
Lots of wildlife on the property.

The 4 Amigos
They were always in the same spot
Another part of the Lodge, beautiful flowers
Taken from the Lodge and you can see the giraffes at the bottom of the hill
Handsome ! He was always hanging around with his harem
I have one more post on this resort with the big giraffe story and then we head out to go Shaba National Reserve…………

Lovely photos, Susan! The lodge doesn’t look run down at all to me, the window frames hint at English style. Grirrafes are such beautiful animals. Your room looks nice and tidy! ❤️

You are only as old as you believe you are. I’ve seen giraffes in battle, very brutal with those long necks. I’m 62 going on 22…

Many things to love here! It is wonderful to see animals in their native habit, free. As free as animals can be, I suppose. Your room and lodge look lovely, and the peacock is gorgeous finish! Thank you for sharing more of your adventure!

Well how fun is that to look out and see giraffes … LOL at you calling them the four amigos. The resort looks great, a nice room and outdoor dining area. I have never seen a peacock with its beautiful feather display, so that would have been a treat for me as well and I likely would have said I wanted to see the giraffes most too.

That peacock ran that place! We had to tread carefully around him haha. I loved when he spread out his feathers!

All birds are smart, so that peacock probably sees humans and says “show time, I’ll strut my stuff!” 🙂
