We saw quite a number of houses built like this, no steps to the front door. Obviously they aren’t using THAT door but have side doors or back doors that they use, but my question is……….Why?
We went to quite a few little spots, Harbour Round was one place we went to. It was raining off and on most of the time we were in this area so we drove from village to village just to see the scenery.
Woodstock and Paquette were two other towns we drove to and through.

Ming’s Bight was another drive through. The names of the towns in Newfoundland are unusual and/or cute. I googled Ming’s Bight and one suggestion is that it is from a blend of French/Breton and English influences, likely stemming from Saint Méen (Breton) or “Baie des Pins” (French for Pine Bay), possibly mixed with the old English “ming” (mixed) to describe early shared fishing grounds. Bight can be another term for Bay. Who knows how things were named way back when!

That’s enough for this post, more to follow !

I love these cute towns you pass through! What bands were playing when you passed through Woodstock? I think the high, unused door is for Bigfoot when he comes home very late after hitting the parties in the forest…

I think that was the other Woodstock! It’s very few people in this area. Yes maybe for Bigfoot certainly isn’t for people lol

Right, that was a joke of course. Woodstock, New York. The little towns remind me of towns we passed through decades ago riding snowmobiles with the family in Michigan. ❤️

Fogs and low clouds, but I do see one or two blue sky pictures. The little towns seem quaint and I don’t “get” the door with no steps or porch either. It is a modern version of the house on the cliff!

Clint laughed at me every time we saw a house like that because it bothered me lol. I just didn’t understand the no steps to the door thing!

Yes, that was weird. Did they advise visitors about it in case anyone was a sleepwalker?
