Busan, South Korea – 2026 – Part 1

Above photo was in front of the hotel we stayed at when we arrived in Busan. I cannot remember the name of the lady who did this sculpture and in a google search, I couldn’t fin anything. But its a terrific piece nonetheless.

Busan is a city of 3.5 million, second largest city in South Korea. (Seoul is the largest) It is the largest port city in South Korea as well as having the largest fish market, and that fish market was quite something. This is a beautiful, vibrant city and we could easily have stayed longer.

We had a nice room it was almost like a little apartment.

They were having a sand sculpture contest on the beach. We walked down there a couple of times. The people doing these sculptures are quite talented. There was also a sculpture of a mermaid on the rocks. Apparently she left the mermaid world to marry a King but was so homesick, she spent every evening sitting on the rocks and watching the reflection of her city in the water.

I took a few photos from our car or bus and they aren’t the greatest but I was trying to capture the literally hundreds of high rises dotting the landscape. As I had mentioned, South Korea is 70% mountains so they always have to build up.

  1. Froot Loop donut? Wonderful! The entire city is very beautiful, a sharp contrast to photos I have seen of this country’s northern neighbor. That unusual pizza looks fantastic, yes please! Thanks for sharing the deliciousness, guys. 😊

    1. You are welcome! I kind of wish I had tried the Froot Loop donut now lol The pizza was so delicious. Someone made a comment to us that why would you come all this way to eat pizza? But every country and/or people does things differently and I had never had a pizza like that before

Talk about deep-dish pizza and Chicago and Detroit think they have cornered the market on deep-dish pizza! 🙂 I would have passed up the Froot Loop donut too and gone with a more-traditional type of donut. Those high-rises are identical! Can you imagine telling someone directions to get to one – they all look like they are connected. Your room is nice and very spacious!

      3. We had a place called PizzaPapalis open up Downtown and our Firm used to order from there all the time. They touted their pizza as the most-deep-dish-pizza-in-the-world! It smelled wonderful, but it was almost too much crust to be honest (and I’m not a picky eater at all).
