The trip to get from Kyoto to Hakone was long. We had to take 2 subway rides to get to the bullet train and that was about a 2 hour ride. Then a bus ride to take us to the Samurai Road for a walk. Which was nice but it was raining and foggy. It was a nice walk though.
The trail took us to another bus station and after two more buses and about an hour we got to our hotel. We were going to Mt Fuji the next morning by taking a Pirate Ship and then a tram but because of the rain and fog, they canceled those two things. I really wanted to go on the Pirate Ship. How cool is this ship?

Our hotel was nice and we had to change into their pajamas for dinner. And of course slippers, no shoes. The food was quite good and they always have a lot of little dishes filled with items or sauces. It’s quite an event eating in Japan. After dinner, Shingo had rented a karaoke room for us and we had a great time. Well, the singing wasn’t great but the rest was pretty great!

Off to Mt Fuji via two cable cars to get to the top of the mountain. We all tried the famous black egg which is a regular egg but boiled in water rich in sulfur and iron from volcanic hot springs. They had a museum at the top of the mountain that we went through and it was quite informative.

It would have been nice to Mt Fuji but the weather didn’t help us. It was still a nice day but dam that pirate ship would’ve been an awesome adventure !
When we left Hakone, we headed to Tokyo …………….

Great photos and content! Black eggs? The pirate ship does look interesting. The sign has funny English, 🤭. I would have difficulty with the food I think, not enough portion and if its sea food I am not touching it! Thanks for the tour!

That pirate ship was so great! I was really disappointed when they had to cancel due to weather but that seems to be the way of the world nowadays. We have a storm watch here tonight, hail, rain possible tornadoes. 😦

YAH, THE WEATHER PATTERNS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THEY WERE WHEN i WAS A KID. Be careful with that weather, the northern tier states are getting pounded hard lately. Do you have an Environment Canada weather radio? Sorry about the caps…

Haha I sometimes forget I have caps on to and then I’m too lazy to go back and erase them lol no we don’t have a specific radio, but we have environment Canada and the Weather Network on our phones

Exactly, i just don’t wanna retype. 😂 That’s good, gotta be ready! Being from Michigan I know how quickly the weather up north can flip.

What a bummer for the foggy day and all the rain … you can see the puddles in the forest, but what a shame you had to miss the pirate ship and tram trip. That was some heavy fog – the only patch of blue was the water (unless it was blue sky and white clouds beneath the fog??) in the last photo. The piece of wood that was 1,500 years old – amazing. Before I read the caption under your photo holding the black eggs, I thought they were egg-shaped fossils made from the lava. 🙂 That food sure is different, even the black, hard-boiled eggs.

I believe that was the water. There were so many clouds that day. Yeah the boiled eggs just tasted like boiled eggs, but it was just the shell that was colored black but as soon as you broke the shell off, it was just normal.
