I am taking a break from blogging about our trip last summer to Tennessee and Kentucky and sharing some Local Shenanigans we have been up to lately.
We have been home for a few weeks and doing local stuff. There is so much to do in our area, all kinds of festivals and other activities. We have been to the Poutine Festival, Belleville Waterfront Festival, Quinte West Festival on the Bay, the Haute Goat farm for breakfast and seeing the animals with our Probus club, also biking in Peterborough, Prince Edward County, Belleville and Trenton. We may have visited the odd brewery or two as well; Matron Fine Beer, All My Friends, Prince Eddy’s, Publican House, 100 Acre Brewery, Myers Creek Brewery to name a few……
We have been to the Old Church Theatre a few times to enjoy BBQ Pizza, beer and seeing entertainers such as Suzie Vinnick, The Wanted, and the Urban Highlanders.
We live in a great area, lots of cycling trails, lots of lakes and rivers, lots of everything………..

For some reason, I haven’t taken a lot of photos when we go out. However, one outing that we did last week, I did take photos! Clint and I are members of the Brighton Photo Club and we have two awesome members who plan at least one outing a month for everyone. So this outing was at another member’s house for the morning to take photos and we also took our own picnic lunch. He, and his wife, have beautiful gardens and quite a large property. Their property is near Campbellford, Ontario which is about an hour drive from our house. So below are a few photos I took………..

Fun pictures Susan – you do have a lot to do in your area, so fun to be back home for a while. I like the Farmer Joe pics in color and B&W … I would not have noticed the cat in the box in the first pic had you not pointed it out. But I would have noticed that white caterpillar. I know they are dangerous if you get one of their hairy bristles in a finger or anywhere else!

Yes I was told that about the caterpillars, I stayed my distance! I didn’t notice the cat at first either and I was standing right beside him lol

Yes, be careful with it, the Hickory Tussuck Moth Caterpillar. I was on an interpretive walk once and the guide was showing us its bristles and she got too close to it. She did not have an allergic reaction to it. Always something in the wild!

I don’t remember all these dangers when we were kids! Or maybe we didn’t care?

Me neither – I guess we just didn’t care. We had a group of neighborhood kids, all around the same age that played together and one of the boys, used to capture bees in his hands and put his hands near everyone’s ears so we could hear it buzzing. I don’t recall his parents saying “you’ll get stung Donny!” He did it all the time and I don’t think he carried an EpiPen either! 🙂

What beautiful flowers, you don’t need to try to be artistic you are! All those festivals will keep you busy for a while!

Did you ride out to Lakefield from Peterborough? I’m from PTBO and that ride is my favourite!
