Brussels, Belgium – April 2025

The Eurostar took about 3 hours to go from London to Brussels. We stayed in Brussels one night so we got a lot in during the one afternoon we were there. Above photo is the Hotel Marivaux that we stayed at, they had a beautiful lobby. The chairs, pictured below were in the Lobby and I thought they were pretty great. I do love a unique chair or sofa.

We stopped at the Grand Place, the central square in the city of Brussels and then headed to the Waterloo Battlefield site. I know it’s a WWI and WWII tour and Napoleon Bonaparte was not a part of either but it was an interesting part of history. We also walked past the Theatre Royal de Monnaie and stopped for a bite at a small outdoor cafe.

We did not spend much time in Brussels but it’s a beautiful city and it would be nice to get back there some day, I’m sure there are tons of things we missed out on because of our short stay.

Tomorrow we head to Dunkirk…..

  1. A fellow blogger went on a train and bike tour of Brussels a year or so ago and really enjoyed it. It did look like a beautiful place to visit in her photos as well. The opulence of some of these buildings – just amazing! I always like seeing the narrow cobblestone streets and the cobblestone city squares, etc. That is a pair of unique-looking chairs, as are the hassocks.

      1. No, I wouldn’t be up to it either. We had great weather today and I did a little longer walk than I’ve been doing and I feel it tonight. We had an earthquake today at 10:30 a.m. while I was out walking. It was a 2.9 earthquake that originated in Amhurstberg, Ontario, just 18 miles away, but it was felt in my area per the news. If I felt anything I thought it was a truck rumbling by. The last earthquake we had I felt it under the feet as I was sitting in the kitchen. I think it was 3.2.

      2. We had an earthquake just east of us the other day and Amherstberg is maybe a 5 hour drive away. I hope this isn’t going to become a thing ! It’s beautiful here today and in fact I am just heading outside to do some yard work !

      3. It must have been the earthquake that originated in Amherstburg. I hope it won’t become a thing either! There are too many other weather worries right now. It was nice earlier today, but we have some very high winds coming through later to SE Michigan where I live. In SW Michigan they are dealing with a lot of power outages from the same windstorm.
